Students need a network

They require a resource that supports them, affords accessible representation, and ensures that their university experience is all that it can be.

A student society encourages healthy conduct between students, as well as fostering a relationship between the student body, the university, and the community. It builds friendships and alliances.

Students deserve a hands-on organization that is accessible and remains active with the student body. It must ensure accountability for its process and actions.

NUGSS is the culmination of a collective effort to build such a network for undergraduate students of the University of Northern British Columbia.

As a not-for-profit organization, NUGSS is a collective voice for the student-body. It is a facilitator of events, elections, programmes, student-aid packages, and even a health and dental plan. It also works to accommodate the needs of students through clubs and groups.

NUGSS is governed by a Board of Directors which is student-based, and student-elected. All positions related to the governance of NUGSS are either elected posts or ones that are reviewed annually.

Where are you in all of this?

As a student, you build the society and subsequently reap the rewards. The effort that you put into our collective organization is in direct relation to the experience you have at the university, and with fellow students.

As a sponsor or benefactor, you make contact with the student body, and build a bond. This relationship fosters the growth of a happy and healthy Events are a big part of NUGSS. From the Backyard Barbeque to the Final Affair, it's your opportunity to meet new people.student body.

As a resident of the community, you benefit from a student body that is involved in the region. From helpful events like Shinerama to good fun like the Northern Backyard Barbecue, your city is stronger and more colourful, due to the presence of NUGSS.

Office and Employees

The NUGSS office is located through the UNBC bus loop entrance doors, to the left and up the stairs. The hours of operation are 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Every day, the Staff can be found working diligently within the office, waiting to help you.

The Health Care Coordinator can be found in the NUGSS office as well. She can answer all inquiries dealing with the Health and Dental Plan.
