The Board of Directors is charged with the awesome task of managing the Society. Like most large groups, this Board makes decisions on governance and drives the overall mandate of the Society. The Board of Directors is a democratically elected group of students from a variety of different backgrounds, groups, and faculties. The Board meetings are a place where individual members have the opportunity to voice the opinions of their constituents in a forum designed to represent all students at UNBC.

  • Lindsay Gardner

    Lindsay Gardner - President

    Lindsay Gardner is a third year business student working towards a double major in Marketing and Accounting. Lindsay moved to Prince George in 2006 to pursue her education at UNBC. Originally from Vancouver Island, Lindsay looks forward to completing her degree in the north. As President of the Northern Undergraduate Student Society, she takes the responsibility of working with all directors within NUGSS and acting as a liaison between the student body at UNBC and the school's administration. She looks forward to representing all students fairly and effectively both on and off campus and throughout the UNBC community. She is excited for the upcoming year and working through challenges with and for all students. During Lindsay's spare time you can find her snowboarding, playing softball, working, or drinking wine on a nice patio.

  • Jennifer Kwan

    Jennifer Kwan - VP Finance

    This is Jennifer's second year with NUGSS, last year serving the role of Women's Representative. She is a 4th year Commerce student here at UNBC majoring in Finance and Marketing. She is originally from Richmond located in the lower mainland. She has been in Prince George since 2006 and plans to finish her post secondary education here at UNBC. As VP Finance, she will be responsible for the monies within NUGSS and will chair the Monetary Affairs Commission.

  • Alex Wallace

    Alex Wallace - VP External Affairs

    Alex Wallace is a third year Environmental Planning student Majoring in Natural Resource Planning. Over the past few years she has actively been involved with NUGSS Event Planning Committee (EPC), Students for a Green University, and the Sierra Youth Coalition. She has assisted in organizing UNBC's first and second Annual Green Day. She now holds the position VP of External Affairs who is responsible for coordination with representatives of other regional campus communities in Northern British Columbia. As well as, maintaining positive relationships between campuses and media outlets. Her passions lie in environmental issues as well as enjoying a glass of wine or two with good friends. Alex looks forward to this up coming year, and working with the incoming NUGSS board.

  • Kaleigh Milinazzo

    Kaleigh Milinazzo - VP Student Affairs

    Kaleigh Milinazzo is a third year Political Science and International Studies student, originally from the town of Burns Lake, BC. During her time at UNBC Kaleigh has been involved with the Political Science Student Association and previously served as the President of the Model United Nations Club, traveling to Montreal for a debating tournament.

    This year, Kaleigh is serving as the Vice President of Student Affairs. Kaleigh's main responsibility is UNBC student clubs and the revision of society policy. She looks forward to working with the Board of Directors, the student body and to having a great year ahead.

    Kaleigh's passions include politics, cooking and the Food Network, soccer, snowboarding, painting, international affairs, the outdoors and life under the midnight sun.

  • Morgan Melnyk

    Morgan Melnyk - Associate Director Events

    Morgan Melnyk is a fourth year business student pursuing his Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a double major in Marketing and International Business and a double minor in Economics and Political Science. Born and raised in the small town of 100 Mile House, he moved to Prince George in 2007, after receiving the UNBC Scholars Award, to further his education. Morgan has been actively involved in the UNBC culture and enjoys working with the UNBC Residence Life team in his role of the Residence Life Assistant. As NUGSS Associate Director of Events, he actively participates in the planning and execution of the renowned NUGSS events, as well as being a member of the Events Planning Committee. In his spare time, you can catch Morgan shopping, attending concerts or enjoying a Martini with his friends.

  • Adam Thomas

    Adam Thomas - First Nations Rep

    My name is Adam Thomas and I am a Carrier man from Saik’uz First Nations. Currently I am a second year UNBC student in the Environmental Planning program, majoring in First Nations Planning. Respect, passion and leadership are the driving forces behind me which are helping me achieve all of my goals here at the University of Northern British Columbia. I am involved with the First Nations Centre since I began my undergraduate studies, and I volunteered at all of the First Nations Centre’s events. I believe volunteering is important "To give back to your community since it gives a lot to you". I have done well in advocating for my fellow Aboriginal colleagues. As liaison for the Northern Undergraduate Student Society I helped connect and strengthen ties with the First Nations/Aboriginal student population with the entirety of UNBC. I become heavily involved around Indigenous rights and Environmental Justice and been traveling around Canada participating in gatherings, advocating for these rights and in doing so I am now a part of the Indigenous Environmental Network as a delegate and will be going to the next Conference Of Parties 16 in Mexico this year to fight for environmental justice and implicate Indigenous rights into the Climate talks as they did at COP15.

  • Kara Steel

    Kara Christine Steel - Women’s Representative

    My name is Kara Steel and I am the NUGSS Womens Representaive for the 2009/2010 school year here at UNBC. I am currently studying Health Science and Psychology with hopes of entering Ryerson University’s Midwifery or Nursing program in 2011. I am originally from Toronto and have lived in Prince George for the past three years. When I’m not in school I can be found on the vast cut blocks of Northern BC and Alberta tree-planting. This school year I have chosen to commit my time at NUGSS to the production of "The Vagina Monologues", so be sure to watch out for posters around campus. Production will hit the stage March 12th and 13th of 2010 in celebration of International Women’s Week!

  • Anthony Adams

    Anthony Adams - Colleges Representative

    Anthony Adam is a fourth year student majoring in Accounting and Finance. Originally from Kitimat, Anthony moved to Prince George in 2007 to pursue his education at UNBC. As Colleges Representative he is responsible to work as a liaison and student voice between the College of Arts Social and Health Sciences, as well as the College of Science And Management. Anthony is also responsible for Better World Books, and basic operations around the Northern Undergraduate Student Society.

    In his spare time you can find Anthony swimming, staying active, working or enjoying a pint with friends at the Thirsty Moose Pub.

    Nadia Nowak - Assoc. Director Campus Sustainability

    Nadia Nowak is a third year Environmental Planning student majoring in Northern and Rural Community Planning. As the Associate Director of Campus Sustainability she works to educate and engage students in sustainability at UNBC. Nadia also sits on the Green University Planning Committee which oversees and implements sustainable practices at UNBC. Nadia is passionate about this position and would love to meet you! These are the challenges of our time and it is only together that we will overcome them.
