Northern Women’s Centre!

University of Northern British Columbia

The Northern Women’s Centre is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of women’s lives in the north. We offer workshops, training, volunteer opportunities, and a cool place to hang out! We also maintain a safe space on campus for all women in Prince George 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (if the door is locked, simply contact Security next door).

All women are welcome to just walk in, anytime! We aim to create a safe, positive atmosphere that welcomes the diversity of women’s experiences...including women breast-feeding, gay, and/or mature women, etc...

The Northern Women’s Centre has a staff person who is on site 2 days a week. At other times, there are volunteers who sit at the Coordinator’s desk to assist people as they arrive at the Centre. For more details, please see the schedule on the front door.

The Centre is run by women who for a collective. Collective meetings are held once a week, please see door for meeting times.

Men are welcome to seek assistance through the Centre. The Coordinator can be reached by knocking on the door, emailing empower@unbc.ca or phoning x 5632.
